Assessment and Reflection

Think
What's the difference between Assessment and Reflection?
How do we assess in HPE?
Why should we give students the opportunity to reflect in HPE?

You will need these links for this activity

Assessment Rubrics

You need a rubric for your lesson page of your final project. Rather than using a word document perhaps these sites can help?
Assessment rubric generators, eg iRubric (and RubiStar). Search for existing templates and modify to suit, or start from scratch and build. With iRubric you can also grade within the site, and build eportfolios. The last time I looked for Phys Ed rubrics in iRubric there were about 30,000.

Reflection

You will also need to allow your students to reflect somehow.
There are many ways you could do this

  • written

  • video

  • audio

What sorts of things will you ask in a reflection?

What tools do you already know about that you could use for a reflection?

Example: Voice Thread

Voice thread allows for various file eg images or video to be uploaded and then have anyone give feedback on them. This could be a single student on their own performance or multiple persons including peers, teachers and parents. Feedback can be given in various ways such as through the a microphone, webcam or text.

The swimming footage in the Voice thread was taken with a GoPro.

Example: Voice record Pro

Voice record pro is a voice recording app on the iPad that allows you to export to Camera Roll.

Example: Book creator

If your students are compiling their information in an eBook for you, why not encourage a written, audio or video reflection that covers a certain number of points?

Example : Form/survey

You will need to include a way/opportunity for your students to reflect in your publishing Assessment.

Think about using Google Forms or Microsoft forms to create a reflection tool

Example : Chatterpix

Chatterpix is a free app for iOS and can be a perfect way to explain a concept using a relevant image.

Select the image and then draw the line for the 'mouth'. you can record 30 sec and save it as a video.

Example : Flipgrid

Flipgrid is an online tool that allows a teacher to post an image, text or video and students can respond via image video or text.  You can add in some cool effects to the video responses.
